Qualifications & Professional Experience

My professional background

I'm Zee Finch, a BACP-registered psychotherapist with over a decade of experience supporting people through emotional difficulties, relationship challenges and significant life experiences.

My work is grounded in person-centred counselling, with an integrative approach that draws on additional therapeutic models, training and ongoing professional development.

I believe that professional knowledge matters, but so does the ability to build a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard, understood and accepted.

Professional qualifications & membership

Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Person-Centred Counselling
University of Brighton-validated qualification.

Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)

I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework, which informs my commitment to confidentiality, professional boundaries, ethical practice and client wellbeing.

Clinical experience

I have worked as a psychotherapist with Psychology Sussex since 2013, supporting clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

Alongside this, I offer independent psychotherapy in Hove, working with individuals, adolescents and couples.

My experience includes supporting people experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and challenges associated with significant life changes.

I work collaboratively, adapting my approach to the individual rather than assuming that one therapeutic model will suit everyone.

Additional therapeutic training

Ongoing professional development is an important part of my practice. My training includes:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • CBT training with Dr Christine Padesky

  • Behavioural experiments

  • Cognitive approaches to understanding patterns of thinking and behaviour

  • Mindfulness-based cognitive approaches

Relationships and emotional wellbeing

  • Couples therapy

  • Transactional Analysis

  • Mindful Self-Compassion

  • Mindfulness

Specialist areas

  • Obsessive and compulsive difficulties

  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

  • Avoidant Personality Disorder

  • Working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse

  • Dissociative disorders

  • Suicide awareness and risk

  • Drug and alcohol-related difficulties

Creative and group approaches

  • Art therapy training

  • Facilitating therapeutic groups

These are areas of additional training and professional development, rather than separate specialist qualifications.

Continuing professional development

My learning doesn't end with formal training.

Regular clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development help me consider my work thoughtfully, recognise my own responses and continue developing as a therapist.

I am particularly interested in the relationship between our thoughts, emotions, experiences and patterns of responding, and how greater awareness and self-compassion can support meaningful change.

My aim is to bring together professional knowledge and genuine human connection, while keeping your individual needs and experiences at the centre of our work.
